A: Fingerprint sensors need a clean, dry finger and a clean sensor window. Wet, dirty, or heavily worn fingertips can fail to read. Wipe both and try again — and register at least 3 fingers as backups when you set it up.

A: You can, but be aware it is not TSA-approved — if TSA needs to inspect your checked bag, they may cut the lock off. It's best for carry-ons, lockers, and everyday use rather than checked baggage.
